Trossard would welcome reunion with Potter at Chelsea

Leandro Trossard would be keen on reuniting with Graham Potter at Chelsea but said speculation on his Brighton and Hove Albion future makes no sense at this moment.

Belgium international Trossard has shone during Brighton s fine start to the Premier League season, scoring twice in six appearances, but the Seagulls are now set for new guidance.

Head coach Potter s departure for Chelsea will provide a challenge for Brighton, who appointed Roberto De Zerbi as his successor, and the new Stamford Bridge chief could raid his former club in future transfer windows.

Speculation has suggested Trossard is a player Potter would be keen to bring in, and the 27-year-old winger has opened the door for a move, though he made it clear it is pointless to discuss until any offer i…

Football rumours: PSG weighing up new bid for Man City midfielder Bernardo Silva

What the papers say

Paris St Germain are looking into making a fresh bid for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, according to the Daily Telegraph. After this season the 28-year-old, who scored twice against Real Madrid on Wednesday, will have two years left on his contract. The fee is expected to be £70million.

The papers continue to discuss Declan Rice‘s future. The Telegraph says Arsenal are preparing a £92m offer for the West Ham midfielder – which would be a club-record transfer – while the Daily Mirror reports Bayern Munich are also interested in the 24-year-old England international.

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp is “desperate” to keep James Milner at Liverpool, the Mirror reports, adding that the 37-year-old midfielder has been offered a coaching rol…

Premier League Preview: Liverpool v Arsenal

Anfield has been a happy hunting ground for Arsenal but their title credentials will be in for a major test against Liverpool on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger has masterminded three victories in the London club s last four Premier League trips to Anfield, including a 2-0 triumph last season.

Not since Peter Crouch scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 victory in March 2007 have the Merseyside club secured a home win against Arsenal in the top flight.

Liverpool did also beat Wenger s side 4-2 the following April in a UEFA Champions League quarter-final thriller to progress 5-3 on aggregate and set up a semi-final against Chelsea.

However, in the 12 meetings between the two sides since then, Liverpool have only managed one victory 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium in August 2011.

UEFA Champions League Preview: Copenhagen v Juventus

Juventus quest to end the club s 17-year wait for European success will see them start their UEFA Champions League campaign in Copenhagen.

The Turin club were victorious in Europe s premier club tournament and UEFA Super Cup in 1996 but have since endured something of a barren spell in continental competitions, reaching their last final in the 2002-03 season when they were defeated by AC Milan in the Champions League showpiece at Old Trafford.

Antonio Conte s men travelled to Denmark in last season s Champions League and could only take a point from their away match with FC Nordsjaelland.

Juve, though, did manage to remain unbeaten through the group phase before losing 4-0 on aggregate to eventual winners Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Not that the setback …

Burnley 4 Bournemouth 0: Rampant Clarets claim first Premier League win of the season

Matej Vydra, Aaron Lennon and two-goal Ashley Barnes helped Burnley to a first Premier League win of the season as they cruised past Bournemouth 4-0 at Turf Moor.

Sean Dyche s side went into the game on the back of four straight top-flight defeats and looked every bit the league s bottom side for much of the opening period.

They burst into life shortly before the interval, though, as Vydra and Lennon opened their accounts for the club with close-range finishes within the space of two minutes.

Joe Hart made a fine stop from David Brooks to deny an out-of-sorts Bournemouth the opportunity of a grandstand finish before two Barnes strikes in the final seven minutes gave the scoreline an emphatic look.

The hosts had started nervously and were lucky not …

Odds: 4/7 @

Looking to extend on their European charge this weekend, Bologna will welcome Verona to the Stadio Renato Dall Ara on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, making yet another Serie A statement last week as they claimed a famous 2-1 victory away at Lazio, Bologna are enjoying a real fairytale this season. Only continuing to receive a string of plaudits from across the continent this year, it is no secret that Thiago Motta’s men have their sights firmly set on punching a European return in 2024. Opening Friday’s showdown at the Stadio Renato Dall Ara with just their goal difference keeping them outside of the Champions League spots, the Greyhounds will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. ´Dad is very demanding´, says Daniel Maldini after scoring first Milan goal

Daniel Maldini struggled to describe the feeling of scoring his first goal for Milan as he revealed the demanding but positive relationship he has with his father Paolo.

The youngster started his first Serie A game on Saturday against Spezia, 12 years and 117 days after his father, a legendary figure at San Siro, last appeared in a league game for the Rossoneri, and opened the scoring with a second-half header.

Brahim Diaz s late goal cancelled out Daniele Verdi s deflected equaliser to move Milan to 16 points from their first six games, just the third time they have achieved the feat in the three points for a win era.

However, much of the post-match focus was on Maldini, who became the third generation of his family to score for the club, 13 years and 179 days a…

Herbert to stand down as New Zealand coach

Ricki Herbert is to stand down as coach of the New Zealand national team following the conclusion of their FIFA World Cup campaign.

The 52-year-old, whose reign saw the All Whites reach just their second World Cup finals in 2010, has been in charge since 2005.

However, his tenure could be set to come to an end in the next 24 hours with his side 5-1 down to Mexico in a play-off to reach the tournament in Brazil next year.

Herbert had earlier denied reports that he had decided to leave the position, saying: We ll see, that certainly hasn t been agreed yet by any stretch.

But New Zealand Football published a statement on their website on Tuesday, confirming Herbert was making plans to step down.

Ricki assumed control of the All Whites at a point of instabilit…

Enyeama extends Lille contract

Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has extended his contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2017.

The Nigeria international moved to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy from Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2011, but only made his league debut at the start of the current season.

His form since has been nothing sort of stunning, however.

Enyeama has not conceded a single goal in his last 11 games, a run that stretches back to September 15 and encompasses 1,035 minutes of football.

Former Bordeaux keeper Gaetan Huard set the current benchmark of 1,176 minutes in the 1992-93 season, which Enyeama can surpass in his next two outings.

The 31-year-old s showings have helped Lille record a run of 11 league games without defeat, a streak that has seen them move into second in Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique adamant Neymar unaffected by court case

Luis Enrique is confident the legal battle surrounding Neymar s transfer to Barcelona will not affect the Brazil international s performances ahead of the Copa del Rey tie at home to Valencia on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old is due in court on Tuesday to testify in a case brought forward by Brazilian investment company DIS, who claim they suffered financial damage when Barca allegedly withheld the true value of the player s transfer in 2013.

Former president Sandro Rosell and his successor Josep Maria Bartomeu made an appearance in court on Monday.

Neymar said this week the case started bothering him once his family became involved, but his coach does not think the legal issues will have an impact on performances.

Neymar is in a perfect state of mind, Lui…
