Kylian Mbappe considered retiring from France duty after being criticised for his displays at Euro 2020, according to French Football Federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet.
The 23-year-old failed to score in any of his four outings in last year s competition, with France surprisingly being eliminated by Switzerland in the last 16.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappe missed the decisive spot-kick as the reigning world champions suffered a shock defeat on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time.
Mbappe was subjected to much of the criticism at the time, and FFF chief Le Graet has revealed just how much that affected the former Monaco star.

The final matchup of the NFL Divisional Round is the de facto AFC Championship game, as the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs are regarded by many to be the top two teams in the conference.
It’s a star-studded matchup with the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and Travis Kelce, just to name a few. But in a game with so many big names and everything on the line, where is the NFL betting value in the player prop market?

A triple-header of Wild Card action on Sunday will conclude with an SNF showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson once again, but the Bengals have no such worries on offense. Not only is Joe Burrow calling the shots under center, but he has a dynamic teammate in the backfield in Joe Mixon to turn to.
I’m expecting Mixon to make some major contributions in the passing game, which I’ll dive into below, as well as break down a three-leg Same-Game Parlay built around my best NFL pick of the evening.

Football bettors need to break out the yarn map when betting the NFL Week 18 odds, with so many twists and turns for the final slate of the 2023 regular season.
Uncertainty is the name of the game in Week 18, with only a handful of teams enjoying the luxury of resting up before the postseason. The majority of clubs are still jostling for playoff position or a spot in the tournament.
Those motivations are already moving the spreads and totals for this weekend’s contests. Bettors looking to score the best of the number for their opinions will want to grab some of those odds now, while others may wait to buy back any market moves later in the week. Here’s Bet Now, Bet Later for Week 18.

Defying all the gloomy predictions, the New England Patriots were a surprise story in Week 1, but they could come crashing back to earth against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Though New England played spoiler last weekend against Cincinnati, it’s hard to look past Seattle’s well-balanced offensive firepower — and my Seahawks vs Patriots picks lean firmly towards the visitors.

The Accrington Stanley midfielder Sam Finley has been handed an eight-match ban for calling the Republic of Ireland international Paul McShane a “pikey”.
Finley was charged with an aggravated breach of the Football Association’s rules after a League One game against McShane’s Rochdale in January. An independent regulatory commission has found the comment was a slur based on the Wicklow-born defender’s nationality and as well as the suspension fined Finley £850 and ordered him to attend an FA education course.

Liverpool, Swansea and Cardiff have wished their former striker John Toshack well after reports that he has been in intensive care in a Barcelona hospital.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Diario Vasco, the 72-year-old was taken to hospital last Monday with severe pneumonia after contracting coronavirus and since Saturday has been on a ventilator. Toshack played for Cardiff before his hugely successful spell in the 1970s with Liverpool, and was then player-manager of Swansea.

Liverpool posted on Twitter on Sunday afternoon: “The thoughts of everyone at LFC are with John Toshack and his family. Keep fighting, John.”
The ball sat up for Kai Havertz at the edge of the box. Very briefly, the possibility loomed that he might be about to arrive. This was the perfect moment for him to cast off all the doubts. Smash this into the top corner, win the north London derby with a brilliant late winner, and in an instant his journey in fans’ affections from puzzlement to embrace would have been completed.
It was not an easy chance, far from it, but so much the better: nobody becomes a hero with a tap-in. But the ball bounced fractionally higher than he’d anticipated, he made contact with the outside of his boot and the shot flew harmlessly high and wide. Havertz chewed the collar of his shirt: he knew what that moment represented.
